Antietam Battlefield & National Cemetery

September 17, 1862 – One of the Bloodiest Battles in American History. 23,000 soldiers were killed, missing or wounded in one day of savage combat. The Battle of Antietam ended the Confederate Army’s first invasion into the North and led to Abraham Lincoln’s issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Visited Antietam Battlefield a couple of weeks ago. Amazing history; a part of our history we shouldn’t forget. I only had my cell phone camera… too bad I forgot my Canon back home. Had a good trip anyway.
